Learning, Playing & Growing Outdoors

Our outdoor learning photo gallery includes moments from Kinglets Nature School, our homeschool programs, summer camps and other seasonal experiences. Children investigate forests, gardens, snow, trails, natural materials, wildlife, art, music, movement and the changing seasons through hands-on exploration.

Learning Through Nature in Every Season

Outdoor learning looks different throughout the year. Warm-weather programs create opportunities for gardening, building, balancing, hiking, creating art and investigating plants and animals. During Vermont winters, snow and ice become part of the learning environment, encouraging movement, problem-solving, observation and new ways to experience familiar places.

Our educators support child-led exploration while helping children develop confidence, independence, cooperation and a deeper relationship with the natural world. Learn more about the people who guide these experiences on our Our Team page.

Nature-Based Early Childhood Education

Field, Farm & Forest programs combine outdoor play with developmentally appropriate learning experiences. Families interested in Vermont’s early childhood education framework can learn more from the Vermont Child Development Division.
