We strongly believe that every child deserves a lot of time outdoors each day and plenty of self-directed learning experiences. Research shows that time in nature & "free play" provide myriad benefits to a child's emotional, physical, sensory, cognitive, and social development. Also, when children feel connected to nature at a young age, they are more likely to become land stewards & environmental advocates as adults. Through our programs, we strive to cultivate curiosity, community & nature connection here in the Northeast Kingdom.

Our team of teachers all have experience in the field of education, whether it be independent & public schools, non-profits, homeschooling or childcare programs. We all bring our unique talents & interests with us as we interact with children daily but one common belief is shared among us all: that a play-filled childhood immersed in the outdoors is imperative to the well-being of both children and the natural world! Childhood is so quick and our mission is to make it as authentic & immersed in nature as possible. Our teachers include FFF co-founders Jessica Simpson and Mary Jo O'Neill as well as Kendra Simpson (Program Director), Emily Bache (Business Manager), and Samantha Valentine.

We are a 501-3c non-profit which began as a little "nature school" for 3-6 yr olds back in 2013 at the Inn at Mountain View Farm in East Burke, VT. We are now based at the Wildflower Inn on Darling Hill in Lyndon, VT. Our nature school is still going strong and is recognized as a licensed childcare program. We also connect kids of all ages to nature through seasonal homeschool programs, workshops, and summer campprograms. We are proud that many of our founding members are still involved with our programs to this day and are also delighted to have added more dedicated and passionate teachers along the way!
Each contribution helps fund the mission of our little "nature school". Thank you for your generosity and support!
