Kinglets Nature School is our licensed nature preschool in Vermont for children ages 3–5. We believe young children deserve abundant time to play, explore, imagine, create, discover and build meaningful connections with the natural world.
Kinglets is currently full for the 2026–2027 school year. Families interested in future enrollment are encouraged to contact us about admissions and waitlist availability.
Why Kinglets Nature School?
Our children were nicknamed the Kinglets in 2013, when Field, Farm & Forest first began offering nature-based early childhood programs. Inspired by the Forest Kindergarten model, our approach immerses children in nature for large portions of each day. Through outdoor play, children move their bodies, use their imaginations, satisfy curiosity, gain confidence, overcome fears, build friendships and develop a positive relationship with the natural world.
Families looking for seasonal options can also explore our nature summer camps for children ages 3–10.
Our Nature Preschool Philosophy
Children are their own best leaders in learning. By exploring their natural environment, curiosity creates organic opportunities for discovery. Play supports cognitive, physical, social, emotional and sensory development. We believe children deserve an authentic childhood with abundant self-directed play and outdoor time.
At Kinglets Nature School, our teachers create a safe, enriching and engaging learning environment, then follow children as they explore. Our curriculum is emergent and welcomes differences in development and learning styles. Children leave each day joyful, appreciated, respected and very likely dirty.
Kinglets Nature School Enrollment Process
- Open house date: to be announced
- February 1: enrollment opens
- March 1: enrollment applications due
- March 12: decisions sent
- March 31: acceptance packets and deposits due
- After April 1: rolling admission as space allows
New applicants are prioritized based on sibling enrollment, waitlist status, requested number of days and schedule flexibility. All applicants must attend an open house or arrange a visit before applying.
Enrollment Options
- Full day: 8:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
- Half day: 8:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
- Two-, three- or five-day enrollment
- Aftercare Monday–Thursday, 3:00–4:30 p.m., for an additional fee
Financial Assistance for Kinglets Families
We accept childcare subsidies through Vermont’s Child Care Financial Assistance Program (CCFAP). CCFAP helps eligible Vermont families pay for child care and can make high-quality early childhood programs more accessible.
Our New Lyndonville Location
Our permanent Brown Farm Road location in Lyndonville opens in fall 2026. The school includes wooded trails, streams, footbridges, garden beds, open grass space, a deck for snacks and art, large windows, natural light and a full kitchen for cooking and baking.
